The Future I Imagine: A World Beyond Locked Doors
I dream of a world where no one has to be forcibly locked away or silenced in the name of “care.” I imagine a future where survivors of psychiatric hospitals, wards, and incarceration have access to compassionate, peer-led spaces that honor their experiences and choices.
In this world, healing isn’t forced — it’s chosen. Connection replaces isolation, and freedom and dignity are non-negotiable. I want survivors to reclaim their voices, their power, and their lives without fear of being locked away again.
I see a future where the harm and lasting impact of psychiatric incarceration is acknowledged. Where survivor voices are believed, and where community-based, trauma-informed support is the standard, not the exception.
Every conversation, every shared story, and every safe space we create moves us closer to that future. Because the locked doors belong to the past. What comes next is healing, understanding, and freedom — together.
