Peer Support that Honors Your Autonomy

You deserve support that meets you where you are, honors your lived experience, and respects your right to make decisions about your own life.

At Unlock Psych, we offer compassionate, individualized peer support for survivors of psychiatric harm and people navigating recovery, emotional challenges, and the effects of systems that may not have honored their autonomy or dignity.

Our approach is grounded in lived experience, mutuality, self-determination, and the belief that you are the expert on your own life. You don’t have to fit a particular narrative, meet a prescribed expectation, or have everything figured out to find connection here.

Whether you’re looking for space to talk, support exploring your goals, or practical tools to help you move forward, we’re here to help you explore possibilities on your own terms.

Individual Peer Support

A space to be heard, understood, and supported on your own terms.

Sometimes, you need someone who will listen without judgment, try to fix you, or tell you who you should be. Someone who understands that your experiences are your own and that you deserve to have a say in what support looks like.

Individual peer support offers a collaborative space to explore what you’re experiencing, reflect on what matters to you, and discover possibilities that align with your needs, values, and goals.

As a Certified Peer Support Specialist with lived experience, I approach our work as a fellow human being—not as someone who has all the answers. Our conversations are guided by your priorities, and you decide what we explore and what feels right for you.

Individual peer support may offer space to:

  • Process difficult experiences and feel less alone.
  • Explore the effects of psychiatric harm, trauma, stigma, or coercion.
  • Reflect on your identity, values, needs, and personal goals.
  • Navigate recovery, life transitions, or challenging circumstances.
  • Explore coping strategies, harm reduction, and supportive resources.
  • Build on your strengths and recognize the knowledge you’ve gained through lived experience.
  • Imagine new possibilities for your life, at your own pace.

You don’t need a specific goal or a plan for our conversations. You can arrive with something weighing on you, a question you’re exploring, or simply a need for connection.

This is your space. You set the pace, choose what to share, and decide what feels helpful.

Additional Peer Support Services

Focused Support for Your Individual Needs

Sometimes, support means having space to talk. Other times, it means working toward a specific goal, finding helpful resources, or creating practical tools that support your recovery and well-being.

Unlock Psych offers individualized support services for people who would like assistance with a particular need, goal, or area of their recovery. These services provide opportunities to explore your options, develop personalized resources, and create plans that reflect your needs, values, and preferences.

Each service can be booked individually without purchasing a full peer support session.

Already receiving individual peer support? If you’re working with me through individual sessions, you can request any of these services as part of our existing work together at no additional charge. These services are also available as standalone options for those who would like focused assistance without booking a full session.

Resource Navigation & Community Connections

Standalone service: $15

Finding the right support can be exhausting, especially when resources are difficult to navigate or don’t reflect your needs and values.

If you’re looking for a particular type of support, community, or practical resource, I can help you explore available options and identify resources that may be a good fit.

Depending on your needs, this may include peer support communities, recovery resources, harm-reduction services, educational opportunities, mutual aid networks, advocacy organizations, or other community-based supports.

We’ll discuss what you’re looking for and any preferences or accessibility needs you’d like me to consider. I’ll then research relevant options and share information to help you decide which resources, if any, you’d like to pursue.

My goal is to make the process feel more manageable and help you discover options you might not have found on your own.

⸻

Harm Reduction Strategizing

Standalone service: $20

Your safety, well-being, and autonomy matter. Harm reduction recognizes that people have different circumstances, needs, and goals, and that meaningful change doesn’t have to follow a single prescribed path.

Together, we can explore what harm reduction means in your life and identify practical strategies, tools, and resources that align with your circumstances and priorities.

Depending on your needs, this may include identifying situations where you feel vulnerable, exploring ways to reduce potential harms, discussing supportive resources, and developing a personalized plan for navigating challenging situations more safely.

Our conversation will be grounded in compassion rather than shame, with respect for your autonomy and the reality of your circumstances. You don’t have to justify where you are in your journey to deserve support.

The aim is to help you identify options that feel practical, relevant, and supportive of your well-being.

This is a peer-support planning service, not medical advice or emergency safety planning. Medical concerns, including substance withdrawal and overdose risks, may require qualified healthcare support.

⸻

Psychiatric Advance Directive Support

Standalone service: $20

Your voice, preferences, and dignity matter when it comes to your mental health care, including during times when you may find it difficult to communicate your wishes.

A psychiatric advance directive can provide a way to document your preferences for future mental health treatment and care, subject to applicable laws and the document’s legal requirements.

I can support you in exploring your care preferences and working through the process of preparing a psychiatric advance directive. Together, we can reflect on what helps you feel safe, what kinds of support you find helpful or unhelpful, how you would like others to communicate with you, and what you want healthcare providers to understand about your needs.

We can also explore your preferences regarding treatment approaches, supportive people, crisis care, and other considerations relevant to your circumstances.

This is an opportunity to think about what respectful, person-centered care means to you and to put your wishes into words.

You remain in control of your preferences and decisions throughout the process. My role is to support your reflection and help you organize your wishes, not to make decisions for you or provide legal advice.

I can assist with preparation and reflection, but I cannot guarantee that a directive will be legally valid or that every preference will be followed. Legal requirements and the enforceability of particular provisions vary. We can identify appropriate official resources to help you understand the requirements for your location.

SMART Goals for Wellness & Recovery

Standalone service: $20

When you have something you’d like to work toward, it can help to turn a broad intention into a goal that feels clear, manageable, and achievable.

SMART goals are designed to be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. We can use this framework to explore goals related to your recovery, wellness, personal development, relationships, daily routines, or other areas of life that matter to you.

Together, we’ll clarify what you want to accomplish and explore what progress might look like for you. If you’d like, we can also identify steps you’re willing and able to take, consider potential obstacles, and map out a flexible process for working toward your goal.

Your goals should support the life you want to build, not become another source of pressure or self-criticism. We’ll work at your pace and adapt the plan to your needs, resources, and circumstances.

Whether you’re starting with a small change or exploring a longer-term aspiration, the focus is on helping you move forward in a way that feels meaningful and self-directed.

T-MAP Creation: Transformative Mutual Aid Practices

Standalone service: $20

Your experiences, strengths, coping strategies, and connections can all be meaningful parts of your personal map for navigating difficult times and supporting your well-being.

Transformative Mutual Aid Practices (T-MAPs) offer a collection of tools for exploring your personal experiences, wellness strategies, resilience practices, stories, and community resources. A T-MAP can help you reflect on what supports you, recognize patterns and needs, and document the approaches and connections you want to draw upon during different periods of your life.

I can support you in creating your own T-MAP by helping you explore the available tools, reflect on what matters to you, and organize the information and strategies you want to include.

Your map can be as individual as you are. You might choose to focus on what helps you feel grounded, what you notice when you’re struggling, what kinds of support you prefer, what you’ve learned from your experiences, or the people and communities you want to stay connected with.

The process is collaborative and self-directed. You decide what to include, what to leave out, and how you want to use your map.

Your experiences hold knowledge. Your needs deserve to be understood. Your support plan should reflect you.

T-MAPs are community-oriented tools for self-reflection and mutual support, not a substitute for clinical assessment or treatment.
